Classmates Bios

Classmates are in the order of their current last names.

Russ Ver Ploeg

My kids started watching That 70's Show. I don't know why....maybe for moral guidance. They ask "Is that what you were like back then?" And then my foreign-born wife asks "Is that what American high school was like?" I hesitate....too long and then plead the 5th. -Russ Ver Ploeg in DSM with 2 Roosevelt-bound daughters.

Steve Wasson

Well still live in the DM area. Married 3 kids and 2 grandsons with another one on the way. After many years in Real Estate and Construction decided to follow my passion and started Woody's Smoke Shack Championship BBQ and Catering. I do special events, bbq contest (been on the food channel), and catering for individuals and corporations. Can not make the reunion as I will be in Sturgis SD at the motorcycle rally. Everyone have a great time and drink one for Woody!!!

Kim (Toy) Zieser

Our family has lived in Clive the last 10 years. When we aren’t working (me at Wells Fargo Consumer Credit Group) or traveling for work, my husband, Dave and I attend our son’s sporting events. Our oldest son, Paul, who just turned 20, will be a Hilltopper baseball player for Western Kentucky University this year. He’ll be 725 miles away-thank goodness for live game feeds on the internet. That leaves us at home with our soon to be 15 year-old comic relief son, Grant. Grant will be a freshman at Waukee this year and enjoys playing football, basketball, baseball and running track. Hopefully by the time Grant is a junior or senior, Waukee will be able to compete with Valley. I think VHS won 20 State titles (or more) this year. I know our class was loaded with good individual as well as team athletics, but VHS broke all the records this year -amazing! I’m blessed, after 30+ years, to still have Jan Thieman, Jill Jacobs and Nadine Koele as close, dear friends. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone at the reunion. p.s. I love Mike Struck’s Top 10 List, just hysterical.
